A Season of Thanks: Celebrating the Generosity of Downtown Gloversville Businesses
As we gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving, it’s important to pause and reflect on the many reasons we have to be thankful. Here in Gloversville, one of our greatest blessings is the remarkable generosity of our downtown small businesses. These locally owned shops and creatives do far more than keep our business district vibrant—they continually step up to support neighbors, lift up local families, and strengthen our community in meaningful ways.
This season, their kindness is on full display. Here are a few examples of many of our locally owned business owners' kindness.
44 Lakes Customized Gifts & Décor & EmpowHERing Designs:
Supporting Food Drives & Thanksgiving Needs

44 Lakes Customized Gifts & Décor, 15 N. Main St., and EmpowHERing Designs, 47 S. Main St., have been actively involved in community giving, helping collect items and support efforts tied to Thanksgiving food drives and meals for local families. Their participation ensures more households can enjoy a warm and comforting holiday, reminding us how local businesses can make a big difference simply by choosing to give back.
Cravings Bakery: Sweet Support for Lily’s Fight Against Cancer

Cravings Bakery & Café, 47 Cayadutta St., has rallied behind a young cancer patient named Lily, offering baked goods, specialty cupcakes, and fundraising support to help her and her family during treatment. Their kindness has sparked community-wide involvement and shows how a small bakery, through compassion and creativity, can bring hope to a child facing an unimaginable challenge. This business inspired other businesses such as Gloversville’s Parkside Hot Dogs to champion Lily’s cause.
Ricmar Design & Print Shop: Helping the SPCA & OFA
Ricmar Design & Print Shop, 31 N. Main St., is known not only for its creativity but also its continual support of local causes. They have assisted organizations including the Fulton County Regional SPCA through promotional help, fundraising visibility, and donations, as well as supporting the Montgomery County Office for the Aging (OFA) by contributing to events that honor seniors in our community. Their outreach is a perfect example of how local entrepreneurs can use their skills and platforms to uplift organizations doing essential work.
The Railyard: Pizza With a Purpose
The Railyard, located at 97 W. Fulton St., showed its commitment to community care on September 6 when it sold 67 pizzas and donated $2 per pizza to Mountain Valley Hospice. Their effort turned a busy night into meaningful support for an organization that provides compassionate end-of-life care to families across the region. It is another reminder of how downtown businesses use their everyday operations to give back in heartfelt ways.
Downtown Hosts Donation Sites for the 2025 Salvation Army Toy Drive

This year, the Salvation Army of Gloversville is expanding its annual toy drive thanks to the support of several downtown hosts that include:
Glover Insurance Agency, 38 N. Main St.
Sage & Cedar Café, 33 N. Main St.
Addictive Pain, 29 N. Main St.
With these businesses stepping forward, the Salvation Army can collect even more toys for families in Fulton and Montgomery counties. If you’re out and about, please consider dropping off a new, unwrapped toy at any of these locations. Every single donation directly brightens a local child’s holiday season.
Why This Matters
These acts of generosity—big and small—reveal the heart of Downtown Gloversville. Our businesses don’t just operate here; they invest in people, respond when help is needed, and quietly strengthen our community day after day.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, let’s recognize these efforts and be grateful for the kindness, compassion, and leadership shown by our downtown merchants.
Show Your Gratitude
The best way to say “thank you” is simple: shop local, dine local, and support small businesses that continually support us.
Downtown Gloversville thrives because of them—and so does our community.
Stay. Play. Explore. Live.
