A block on Harrison Street in Gloversville has quietly transformed into one of the richest baseball destinations in New York State. Dubbed "Baseball Boulevard," this corner of Fulton County offers a seamless blend of living, breathing youth baseball and rich, preserved history spanning more than a century.

Whether you are a lifelong fan of the national pastime, a family traveling for a weekend tournament, or a history buff exploring the Mohawk Valley, Harrison Street offers a incredible dual-stop destination anchored by Parkhurst Field and the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame.

Parkhurst Field is not just a ballfield; it is a monument to baseball history. Originally opened in 1906 and built by the Fonda, Johnstown and Gloversville Railroad to promote trolley travel, these sacred grounds have hosted legends of the game. Hall of Famers like Honus Wagner, Cy Young, and Archibald "Moonlight" Doc Graham played on this very dirt over 120 years ago.

Today, the 9-acre facility is undergoing a multi-phase development project aimed at transforming it into a premier national travel baseball destination.

Key Highlights at Parkhurst Field:

  • The Historic Grandstand: A 500-seat grandstand built precisely on the original 1906 home plate footprint.

  • Under-the-Stands Museum: Housed directly beneath the grandstands, showcasing artifacts and stories from early 20th-century baseball in Fulton County.

  • Modern Expansion: Ongoing site upgrades include multi-field capacity, stadium lighting, modern batting cages, and expanded spectator amenities.

On any given summer day, you can stand by the fencing, hear the crack of a wooden bat, and watch the next generation of ballplayers chasing their dreams on the exact spot Cy Young once pitched.

Located directly across the street at 45 Harrison Street, the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame has called Gloversville home since July 2023. In August 2026, the Hall unveiled its newest crown jewel: the Stanley Harry Silver Collection.

The collection's origin traces back to 1945, when 10-year-old Stanley Silver and his father, Harry, attended the World Series between the Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers. That single game sparked a lifelong passion. Over decades, father and son (and later Stanley’s own children) assembled a private display featuring over 1,000 autographed baseballs.

The collection spans back to the late 1800s and boasts signatures from baseball royalty, including:

  • Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig

  • Cy Young (connecting back to his play across the street!)

  • Joe DiMaggio & Mickey Mantle

Connective assistance from baseball historian and author David Pietrusza helped bring the collection to Gloversville, ensuring this personal family labor of love became a permanent public legacy. During the unveiling ceremony, Stanley Harry Silver was officially inducted into the NYS Baseball Hall of Fame as a historian, philanthropist, and friend of the game, featuring tributes from his family and a video message from sportscaster Bob Costas.
