Mohawk Harvest Coop. Market
The adage “One Stop Shopping” certainly applies to The Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market, which has been located at 30 N. Main St. in Gloversville for the past 13 years. Not only can a customer purchase locally made food products such as milk from Montgomery County’s Dygert Farms Creamery, hot sauce from Broadalbin’s Baucy Be’s, coffee beans from Gloversville’s Upstate Coffee, and baked goods from nearby Rauch’s Bakery, the shopper can sit and enjoy a hot beverage from the coffee bar, eat a meal from the Grab & GO Café, listen to music, view and purchase art at the Micropolis Art Gallery, and find a perfect gift for a loved one all in one trip. Special events include Breakfast at the Harvest and a Soup Contest. These specialty events and services make Mohawk Harvest unique and so does its company plan, as it is a member-owned business based on cooperative principles. Cravings Bakery & Cafe
If you come home from a hard day at work and see a pink box on the table, you know there is a sweet “pick me up” in the container from Cravings Bakery and Café. Located at 47 Cayadutta Street, the business fills your baked goods dreams and more with their famous cookie burger, specialty cupcakes and large brownies. Cravings was on hiatus through the COVID-19 pandemic and recently switched locations to the current facility at Cayadutta Street. Opening in early March 2023, owner Ashley Alikhan saw lines out her door for days. As one Facebook reviewer writes, “Everything is beautifully displayed and tasted so fresh and delicious! I was so very excited to finally get to experience Cravings and I was not disappointed! I cannot wait to go back! I also love the sitting area where you can enjoy your sweet treats. Rossbach Shoe Store
Stepping into Rossbach Shoe Store at 10 W. Fulton St. is a step into a world of knowledge as Charles Rossbach knows where every shoe is, where every size is stacked, and the best way to get the perfect fit for his customers. Charles’ is the third generation of Rossbach to be at the helm, with his grandfather Christian opening the store in February 1922, and his father taking the reins from 1945 to 1988. It may “old-school” for Charles to whip out a measuring stick to size up a patron’s foot before pulling out shoes, but it is this customer care and attention to quality and concern that makes Rossbach’s a place of memories and satisfied customers. Michael G. writes in his online review: “Mr. Rossbach is a great man. He took the time to listen to my complaints about plantar fasciitis, measured my feet, and then pulled three or four pairs of shoes for me to try. He was very professional and when I explained that I am only allowed plain black shoes with no additional coloring or accents (work dress code), he disappeared into the back and reappeared with another shoe that met these stringent specifications. Two of Cups Couture
Two of Cups Couture has been a part of Gloversville since July 2022 and is located at 26 N. Main St. It has always been a long-time dream of owner Kelly Ciancanelli’s to work in fashion, specifically formal wear. It is an eco-conscious dress shop including, but not limited to, gowns for bridal, prom, mother-of-the-bride, bridesmaids, a big night out, or just a night out. The business also offers accessories, jewelry and shoes. A client is able to purchase a dress off the rack “as-is,” buy one already upcycled/customized or work with the business to create a one-of-a-kind gown just for them. A Facebook reviewer posted these words: “Welcoming environment and private shopping experience! I would highly recommend this quaint boutique for all of your needs! My daughter and I went in to look for a dress for a Halloween costume, and when she found this dress, she was in love! She tried on several really cute gowns, but this was her one! Micropolis Art Gallery
“Art does not reproduce what is visible; it makes things visible,” said artist Paul Klee. The Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery certainly helps “make things visible” as Klee says, by giving regional artists the opportunity to showcase their creativity through exhibits, displays, shows, events and more. A part of Downtown Gloversville for nearly 12 years, the gallery is nestled inside the Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market at 30 N. Main St. In addition to giving the artist a place to shine, the organization gives the public opportunities to learn more about the variety of material and media that are used to form beautiful expressions of emotions. The gallery also hosts six shows a year, with receptions opening the exhibits by giving audiences a chance to find out what sparked the artist to make their pieces. Works on display include paintings, drawings, pastels, photographs, fiber art, mixed media, woodwork, glass, digital art, jewelry, pottery, woodland assemblages, baskets and fine art cards. Gloversville True Value
Winter storms remind us of the value in our locally owned hardware stores, but Gloversville True Value is there to help customers year-round.As the website touts,” We’re here to serve our community. Whether you’re a pro or taking on a DIY home improvement project for the first time, we’re right here in your neighborhood with the expert advice, tools, equipment and the products you need to get the job done.” Matt and Tammy Capano took over the local store and moved it to its current 25 Bleecker St. location in 2019. In addition to snow removal tools, the store offers electrical equipment, plumbing and paint. Flashlights, batteries, bug repellent also line the shelves along with 17,000 other products. For those wishing for spring and summer, it also offers lawn furniture, grills, and more. Supplies for construction projects, including power tools, are also available and can easily be put into customer’s cars through either the front or back entrance, which is located off North Arlington Avenue. They really do have everything a person can think of at that convenient location. Palace Diner
An atmosphere of sunny, like the Sunnyside eggs that are served, the 100-year-old Palace Diner greets all customers as if they were family. Located at 62 S. Main St., it has been doing business continuously for 100 years in an actual railroad dining car built and transported to Gloversville in 1923. As the historical marker near the diner notes, “The Palace was opened in 1923 by Albert Main. The lunch cart was built by the Jerry O’Mahony Dining Car Company of Bayonne, NJ. O’Mahony produced about 2,000 diners between 1917-1941 and was the largest manufacturer of the period. The Palace was shipped by railroad from New Jersey to Fonda, then transported by truck from Fonda to 62 South Main Street in Gloversville, where it has stood ever since. The original diner was about 40 x 10 feet and looked very much like a railroad car. Albert Main owned the Palace from its opening in 1923 until 1937, when his nephew, Carlton Clute, took ownership. An addition was added in 1932 and the interior was remodeled in 1951. In 1972, Clute sold ... to Anthony Sena, an employee. The Sena family still owns and operates the Palace.”

Fulton Street Liquor
Fulton Street Liquor, located at 86 E. Fulton St., open since 2015, strives to increase inventory to meet their clients’ tastes. The company moved to its current location in 2017 and in the summer of 2023, the facility opened its Bourbon Vault & Wine Cellar where tasting and events can be held.

The windows at Dunday’s Clothiers are stylish in their own right, and light up with flair at Christmas time at the 49 N. Main St. location. No matter the season, the fashionable men’s caps and shirts are showcased and invite shoppers to come in and see more. Clothing lines include Woolrich, North River, Pendleton. While this location is new for owner Kayla Dwight, Kayla has had an online presence for a few years, as well as being a pop-up vendor at community events in the Mohawk Valley. With cute displays, and unique racks, the merchandise is arranged in a beautiful style that makes the customer want more. In addition to joining the Gloversville business world, Kayla has been active in the Gloversville community helping organize a benefit for a family who lost their home to a fire, and recently allowing children to have a lemonade stand in front of the shop. Fulton County Barbershop
It may be a small shop, but the owner and the employees have huge hearts as Fulton County Barbershop (FCB), located at 17 N. Main St., hosted a clothing drive for the people of Turkey that were affected by the massive earthquake. This isn’t the first time the local business has helped others under the direction of owner Michael Medina. At Christmas time, “Santa” and his helpers cut hair for children ages 12 and under free of charge. This holiday tradition has been going on since 2014. The hardest part about entering Rauch Bakery Co. is getting past the wonderful sights and smells of the cookies and pastries.
